Can I Sill Be Saved?

Updated: Jun 5, 2021

Accepting the Free Gift Before It's Too Late

In Luke 14:22 Jesus tells us that there is still room at the cross for anyone who wants to follow Him. God will always receive any soul that cries out to Him in spirit and in truth. But the Bible does tell us that time is short. Revelation 16:15 says, “Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!” Along with sin comes shame, humiliation, and nakedness. But Jesus promises us a new life, a life free from everything that has us enslaved and entangled. The blood of Jesus can break patterns and cycles that you've been bound by for years, break generational curses, uproot all sinful desires out of your heart, and give your life purpose and meaning for the first time.

Eternal Security in Christ Alone

Becoming a child of God can be accomplished by faith alone in Jesus Christ. First, you must believe that you are a sinner, and you deserve to go to hell. The Bible says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23) “...death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12). Our heart's tendency and inclination towards evil from a young age is evidence that sin got passed down from generation to generation. This evil that's present in the world today stems from our first parents, Adam and Eve.

Secondly, you must repent of your sins. God’s Word states, “...As I live, says the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live...” (Ezekiel 33:11). We can be set free from all sins today and ask the Lord to help our minds and hearts be inclined towards Him, towards holiness and righteousness. Spending time in God's Word and praying will help our sinful human nature to slowly fade. We must be willing to spend time with God for our relationship to grow, and for His Spirit to draw us nearer to Him.

Thirdly, you must believe that Jesus Christ died to pay for your sins. “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8). Who is the gift for? God offers this free gift to all who believe and call upon His name.

Finally, pray and ask Christ to be your Saviour. God promises that “if you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)

In John 14:16 Jesus says, "I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever." We must ask God for His Holy Spirit so that our hearts and minds may be aligned with God's will for our lives from now on. The Holy Spirit will change the desires of our hearts and help us understand God's plan for our lives. He will uproot and destroy any desires that we might have that aren't from God, and He will place God's desires within our hearts. Without the Holy Spirit and His discernment, we can easily be lead astray by the enemy. The Holy Spirit comforts, is our Advocate, and our Teacher. Jesus promises He won't leave us as orphans. His Spirit will teach us and lead us into all truth. Without the help of God's Spirit we will not be able to stand in these last days.

May the Lord help all of us to stand firm in the faith until the end and overcome all obstacles, hinderances, and plans of the enemy against our lives.
